About Mood Cannabis

Our Story

When the Canadian government announced that it would legalize cannabis as of October 17, 2018, a team of professionals was formed to create a group of legal retail cannabis stores that would elevate recreational cannabis and act as the premier private cannabis retailer in British Columbia.

Our Name

We named our stores Mood Cannabis Co. to reflect our team’s core belief that everyone should be able to exist freely within their desired state of mind, or mood, supported by legal, high-quality cannabis.

We cultivate gratitude, grow perspective and embody respect for the cannabis industry.

In British Columbia, only retailers who are licensed to sell recreational cannabis may do so legally. Recreational cannabis is available for those aged 19+ with proof of ID. Recreational cannabis is not intended to self-medicate.

For Canadians who are interested to use cannabis for medical purposes, we encourage you to look into the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Registration (ACMPR), where your cannabis use will be supervised by a doctor, where you will receive recommendations based on your medical condition and associated symptoms.

What types of cannabis products are not permitted for purchase in legal cannabis stores?

Currently, it is not permitted to sell cannabis edibles, beverages, concentrates, or topical products in legal cannabis stores. Where can I consume my legal cannabis in British Columbia?

It is permitted for adults 19+ to smoke or vape cannabis in public spaces where tobacco smoking and vaping is permitted. Be mindful of your surroundings when smoking or vaping in public places.

Smoking and vaping cannabis are not allowed in the following public places:

  • Playgrounds, sports fields, skate parks, swimming pools and spray pools, or any decks or seating areas associated these places
  • Public buildings, workplaces, or common areas of apartments, condos, or dormitories, and within six metres of air intakes, windows, and doorways attached to these places
  • Within six metres of bus stops, transit shelters, train stations, ferry docks and similar places
  • Regional and municipal parks, except for designated campsites

It’s also illegal for both driver and passenger(s) to consume non-medical cannabis in a car.

Is cannabis purchased from a legal cannabis store safe?

Cannabis that is sold within a legal cannabis store is purchased from a Health Canada-approved Licensed Producer (LP). As part of the distribution process, all cannabis produced by LPs must pass a rigorous testing process that tests for pesticides, moulds, and terpenoid and cannabinoid content.

How long can I expect the effects of cannabis to last?

Different strains produce different effects, just as different strains affect everybody (and everybody) differently. Our Moodmakers can assist you in finding strains and cannabis products that are a compliment to their desired effect.

Can I drive after consuming cannabis?

In Canada, it is an offense to engage in drug-impaired driving. Law enforcement in different municipalities are trained to detect drug-impaired driving and enforce laws using field sobriety testing, a series of tests and toxicological samples, screening equipment and blood samples.

Bill C-46 passed alongside Bill C-45 (The Cannabis Act) which authorized law enforcement to test for the presence of drugs (including cannabis) at the roadside or subsequently if impairment is suspected. Penalties for drug-impaired driving include fines up to $1000, to up to 120 days imprisonment for repeated penalties.

Mood Cannabis Co. strictly discourages consumers from driving while under the influence of cannabis, and encourages consumers to find alternative means for safe transportation that does not put themselves or anyone else in a potential situation of risk.
